How many sessions will I need?
That depends upon how you feel therapy is working for you and the issues you are dealing with, there is no minimum or maximum amount. Usually after 6 sessions I would review how you feel about the process, and we would talk about what you want to achieve going forward. I will never tell you to stay in therapy or leave it, the choice will always be yours.

Will you tell me what to do?
Not at all… my role is to see your world as you do, understand what you are dealing with and work with you therapeutically to help you decide the best course of action for you.

Do I have to talk about things I don’t want to?
Not at all. What you bring to our sessions is up to you, and I will work with you on whatever you choose. Sometimes during therapy difficult or upsetting emotions may come to the surface, which is normal and understandable, but whether you choose to work with them is always and entirely up to you.

Do you keep notes?
I do make brief notes during or after sessions. These are anonymous and kept securely, and you are welcome to see your notes at any time.

What is Clinical Supervision?
In accordance with BACP guidelines I am required to have regular supervision. This is where I see another senior counsellor with whom I discuss my work, to make sure I am working ethically and safely, with my clients best interests at heart. All my client work is completely anonymous, and my supervisor is bound by the same code of ethical practice as I am.

Cancellations:
Should you need to cancel our appointment, please call or text me on 07976 429917.
I understand that sometimes life gets in the way, but if you cancel with less than 24 hours notice then unfortunately the full fee will be incurred. In the unlikely event of my needing to cancel our session, I will of course give you as much notice as possible, and will offer you another appointment for the same week as the one you had booked.

Out of session contact:
If we happen to bump into each other outside of our sessions, I will not acknowledge you unless you choose to acknowledge me first. This is because I respect your privacy, and will never put you in the position of potentially having to explain who I am to someone else, or make you feel that you have to acknowledge our relationship outside the therapy room. Having said that, I am always happy to say hello if you would like to, but the choice will always be yours.
